Awareness Fast

Pastor Daniel Bangura

Happy New Year! As we step into 2026, I am excited to invite you to participate in Turning Point Church's 21-Day Awareness Fast, beginning on January 4th. This period of fasting is a time for spiritual growth, reflection, and a deeper connection with God through prayer.

In our hectic lives, fasting allows us to refocus on God. As John MacArthur notes, the essence of fasting is drawing closer to God, not showcasing our spiritual discipline. By letting go of certain comforts, we open ourselves to seek Him more sincerely.

Fasting encourages us to live a life that mirrors our faith in God, teaching us reliance on Him. It echoes the humility and kindness depicted in Ephesians 4:1-2. As Jesus taught, the combination of fasting and prayer can lead to profound transformations (Mark 9:29). This is our opportunity for spiritual growth and deeper communion with God.

We encourage increased time in prayer during this fast. As Luke 18:1 reminds us, consistent prayer can lead to powerful changes, enhancing our relationship with God.

This fast also offers a chance to pursue healthier lifestyle choices. Inspired by 3 John 1:2, we aim for improvements in physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, using this time to break unhealthy habits and embrace healthier eating.

Please consult a doctor before starting the fast if you have any health concerns, as your well-being is crucial on this journey.

Here’s the 21-Day Awareness Fast plan:

- Week 1 (Jan 4 - Jan 10): No meat, poultry, eggs, or fish.

- Week 2 (Jan 11 - Jan 17): No grains, bread, rice, or pasta.

- Week 3 (Jan 18 - Jan 25): No dairy.

- For all 21 days: Avoid fried foods, sodas, caffeine, and sugary sweets. Include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and herbal teas in your diet, and stay hydrated with plenty of water.

We also invite you to enrich this period by reading daily devotionals such as “Our Daily Bread,” and one chapter from Proverbs and Psalms each day. Maintain the privacy of your fasting, concentrating on God’s work in your life.

Join us for our Consecration service on January 4th to commence the fast, and our Blessing service on January 25th to conclude this spiritually enriching journey.

May God’s blessings be with you throughout this time of fasting.

With blessings,

Pastor Daniel Bangura
