TP Chronicles | Issue No. 13212 | December 12, 2025 | Volume 12

By Pastor Daniel and Lady Notoya Bangura

Hello TPC Family and Friends,

As December ushers in the final month of the year, we reflect on our 2025 theme, "Awakening to New Possibilities," and all that God has made possible for us. This month's focus is "Discovering the Light of Christ," a journey toward finding spiritual guidance and understanding the true meaning of Christmas. The weeks leading to Christmas, known as Advent, encourage a meaningful preparation for Christ's coming amidst the often commercialized view of shopping, Santa, and bright lights. With over 90% of Americans participating in Christmas festivities, it's vital to explore the holiday's deeper significance beyond decorations and gifts.

Our goal this month is to rediscover hope, peace, joy, and love through the light of Christ. Isaiah 9:6-7 speaks of a child born to us, fulfilling the promise of His coming. In John 8:12, Jesus declares, "I am the light of the world," illustrating how His presence brings clarity and dispels darkness with His eternal love.

This theme is beautifully demonstrated by Edwina Saidu, an inspiring fifth grader in our dance ministry whose active participation in Sunday school and church activities personifies living in Christ's light and exploring new possibilities every day.

Our aim this Christmas season is to help others discover the blessings that Christ's light brings. In line with our theme, our Christmas drama, "The Light of Christmas," set for December 21st, serves as a notable celebration for our church. It beautifully tells the story of Jesus' birth, focusing on the true light He brings—one of hope, peace, joy, and love. The theatrical production begins with a conversation between a father and son about the real meaning of Christmas, emphasizing that beyond presents, Christmas celebrates Jesus and the light He brought into the world.

INSIGHTS:

Discovering the Light of Christ

Despite the chilly weather, Edwina Saidu is lighting up Turning Point Church (TPC) with her energy. This fifth-grader joined TPC with her family around a year ago. With the church's theme of "Discovering the Light of Christ" and the week's focus on "Peace on Earth Bell Rings," she's all about spreading joy—no biggie, really.

Growing up with strong Christian values, Edwina's super active at TPC. She's part of the Dance Ministry, led by Lady Notoya Bangura, and she's always dancing her heart out, going to Sunday school, and reading scriptures. The church is her second home, full of warmth and kindness.

Outside church, Edwina knows how to have fun. Whether she's drawing, reading, or jamming with her family in their "family choir," she's all smiles. Running around, catching movies, teasing her cousin Samuela, or diving into Roblox—she's got it covered. Plus, her love for potato leaves and jollof rice? She's sold on African cuisine!

Edwina's all about peace and love, with her favorite scripture, John 3:16, keeping her and others reminded of God's love—just a friendly nudge that everyone is awesome!

Peace on Earth Bell Rings:

This Advent season, we're focusing on "Discovering the Light of Christ," with peace as a central theme. The second light of Advent represents peace, reminding us of the calming message delivered during the Nativity. This light promises the peace that Jesus brings, reflecting Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem, Judea, where the "Prince of Peace" was born.
This peace is not just an historical event; it is a present reality for believers like Edwina. Reflecting on her story, Edwina's involvement at Turning Point Church shows a powerful sense of peace. Much like the Nativity, her experiences show that peace comes from feeling a sense of belonging. At TPC, Edwina experiences the warmth and support that the light of Christ offers to the community. Jesus' gift of peace isn't just about quiet moments; it's about finding stillness within, similar to the calm Edwina experiences during her church activities and family gatherings.

As we light the candle of peace this season, let's prepare our hearts for Christ by remembering the peace He promised in John 16:33, which says, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace." This peace is like the message signaled by angels: "Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men," beginning in Bethlehem.

Practical Health Tips

Guided by the theme "Discovering the Light of Christ," our focus is how to share Christ as the real LIGHT of Christmas and Advent.

Physical

Physical Health: Stay active with fun family games, showing the JOY of the Lord is your strength. Drink lots of water and eat colorful fruits and veggies to feel strong. Get plenty of sleep to stay sharp and happy. Turn off your screens before bed to help your brain rest and recharge.

Emotional

Emotional Health: Stay happy and worry less by writing down things you are thankful for each day, knowing there is HOPE in life. When you're down, draw, play music, or write to express yourself. You can also talk with God. Use a digital tracker to see how He helps you grow daily!

Spiritual

Spiritual Health: Spend time with God daily using Bible apps like YouVersion and the "Our Daily Bread" devotional. Play games with others by memorizing Scripture verses. Take a prayer walk outside to talk with Jesus, who gives perfect PEACE to your mind and your heart!

Social

Social Health:  Show an act of kindness, like leaving secret notes to cheer people up. Join a group to make new friends and help others. On social media, share Bible verses you've memorized. Create posts that show God's light, helping others feel the LOVE of Christ through you.

Reflection

Caring for your physical, emotional, spiritual, and social health builds a community where trust and support thrive. Balance is key. For more ideas, visit the TPC App and share your healthy tips. Philippians 4:7 reminds us, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Each healthy choice promotes peace and connection.
