Spotlight on Sam Gweh

Welcome to TP Concept!

On September 1, 2025, we proudly launched TP Concept, a blog dedicated to enriching spiritual growth and fostering community engagement at Turning Point Church. Led by my wife, Lady Bangura, and me, we will explore biblical insights, key faith-based topics, practical applications for everyday life, event highlights, powerful testimonies, and much more from our community. We are excited to feature Sam Gweh as our October Spotlight candidate. Here's his inspiring story.
My name is Sam Gweh, and I have been a devoted member of the Turning Point Church (TPC) family for over twenty years, supported by my wife, Dianne, as we raised our two wonderful daughters, Toni and Demitre. During this time, I have served in various roles and am currently the Chair of the Finance Committee. I also contribute to the TPC Council and Leadership Team and act as an advisor to the Media and Technology Ministry.

My journey into ministry was deeply influenced by my upbringing. My father, Sammy Gweh, served as a Deacon, and my mother, Martha Gweh, was a women’s ministry leader. As a Deacon’s kid, I often found myself involved in ministry work while my peers enjoyed typical weekend activities. These experiences, though unclear at the time, laid the foundation for my path today.

Like many, I drifted from the church during my young adult years, focusing on soccer, work, and socializing. Yet, the seeds my parents planted endured. Marriage and family brought clarity to their teachings about commitment, respect, and selflessness. Above all, they introduced me to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I started attending TPC, formerly Wheaton Woods Baptist Church, thanks to an invitation from my mother-in-law. My attendance became more consistent during Pastor O’Neal Walker’s leadership. Despite it being an hour’s drive, the warmth and community make the journey worthwhile. The Gospel shared here echoes the truths my parents imparted—the centrality of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection in our faith.

In my professional life, I’m an IT specialist focusing on the public sector, holding a Master’s degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Software Engineering. I am passionate about soccer, supporting Arsenal in the EPL, and played at the NCAA level. In my downtime, I enjoy games like Scrabble, cards, and dominoes, although I dislike slow computers. My favorite scripture is Psalm 23, and I live by the belief that “to whom much is given, much is required.” I feel blessed and trust that God has great things in store for my family and me. To my TPC family: Remember that God is in control, regardless of circumstances. He has engraved your name on His palm and will never forget you.

Insight

Reflecting on his spiritual journey, Sam Gweh embraces lessons of commitment, service, and faith learned from his parents. These teachings remind us all to seek God’s guidance in every aspect of our lives. The importance of living purposefully and serving others is reinforced by the belief that to whom much is given, much is required. As we anticipate the glorious return of Christ, let us focus on aligning our lives with God's will, trusting that His eternal promise ensures each person is cherished and never forgotten. Like Sam, reflect on how far God has brought you, not forgetting where He places you now, while looking forward to the fulfillment of His plans at the return of Christ.

When God is guiding His children, nothing contrary to His will can alter their path. I truly appreciated reading about Brother Sam's journey of faith. May the Lord continue to bless him abundantly.

Indeed, Bro. Sam’s story is a testament to how God often prepares us earlier in life for our tomorrow.
