Spotlight on Prince Mkandla
Welcome to TP Concept!
Hi everyone! I am Nkosana Mkandla, born in Zimbabwe before later living in Botswana and eventually relocating to the United States with my wife, Lilian N. Mkandla, in August 2025. I have been a member of Turning Point Church for the past ten months, where everyone refers to me as Brother Prince. I currently serve as leader of the Men's Ministry—Men of Purpose. Although my time at TPC has been relatively short, I have already found a spiritual home and a community I am proud to serve.
My journey to faith has been anything but straightforward. I grew up in a household that did not attend church, with no early framework for what a life of faith might look like. Even so, my parents instilled in me the values of family and community, and the wisdom of the saying "umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu," meaning we are who we are because of those around us. That early foundation shaped the way I understood belonging, service, and the bonds that hold a community together. In 2008, I received Christ, a defining moment that set me on a new path.
After getting married in 2013, I truly sought to find a church to call home. My wife and I wanted to build a family anchored in God, knowing such a foundation required a community of faith to nurture it. That search finally bore fruit in Botswana in October 2024.
When we relocated to the United States, I carried that experience with me and set out to find a Bible-teaching, family-oriented church rooted in servant leadership and committed to genuine biblical discussion rather than spoon-fed Scripture. I was not looking for a place that simply handed out verses. Instead, I wanted a community that encouraged its members to wrestle with Scripture, ask questions, and deepen our understanding together. I found exactly that at Turning Point Church through the mentorship and guidance of Pastor Daniel and Lady Bangura.
What ultimately convinced me to make TPC my home was not a single moment but a combination of things that spoke to both my heart and my values. Chief among them was the opportunity to serve and put my faith into action. I was also drawn by the warmth of the congregation and the richness of its diversity, where I found a genuine sense of belonging.
My background is in business administration, scientific research, and information technology, particularly in digital governance. Outside of church, I enjoy soccer, athletics, golf, reading, and lifelong learning. Two Scriptures anchor my faith and shape the way I live: Jeremiah 29:11 and Matthew 6:33. They remind me to trust God's plan, seek His kingdom first, and confidently follow wherever He leads. For me, Turning Point Church is more than a place of worship—it is a community where I can serve, grow, and belong, exactly what I was searching for and exactly what I found.

Insight
Brother Prince's story is one of purpose-driven pursuit and stepping boldly by faith. His willingness to leave the familiar, trust God's leading, and intentionally seek a Bible-centered church reminds us that spiritual growth requires both conviction and courage. Anchored by Jeremiah 29:11 and Matthew 6:33, his testimony reflects the confidence that God faithfully guides those who seek Him first. Like Prince, may we continue climbing toward higher ground, trusting that every faithful step prepares us for the purpose, promises, and favor God has in store.
